5 SEO Mistakes You May Be Making

So you're doing some SEO for your website...are you making these common mistakes?

Why Local Marketing is Important

For businesses with a brick and mortar location, chances are that most of your business comes from customers that are physically near you. For businesses that provide products and services to a regionally, this is a given.

Google Page Ranking Isn't the Goal of Inbound Marketing

Search engine optimization (SEO) is an important piece of the inbound puzzle. However, good rankings aren't the goal of inbound marketing – leads are (and, ultimately, sales).

SEO is a means to an end, not the end itself.

SEO is the art and science (yes, art) of using what is known of how search engines (especially Google) rank content and executing strategies that allow a company's Web pages to be ranked as high as possible.

A few things about SEO:

Why Your Business Will Benefit from Keyword Research

Do People Buy Copiers Online?

Over the years one of the most common questions I get from copier dealer principals and sales reps is, "When do you think people will start buying copiers online?"

My answer: "They already are and have been buying copiers online for years now."

Really. Yes, but not necessarily in the way you think. Because of the complex nature of the configuration, pricing, and lease options, they still need sales reps to bring the sale across the finish line. So, I think it will be a while before people put a copier in an online shopping cart and check out online.

Copier Dealers and Search Engine Optimization: What Keywords Do You Want?

“We want to be on page one of Google!”

As I talk to copier dealer principals every day, this is a common statement. But the question that always follows is, “What search terms do you want to get found for?” Typically, the answer is, “We want to get found for ‘copiers [insert city name]’ or ‘[insert copier brand and city name]’”

While it is certainly not a bad thing to be found for “copiers” in your city, the real question should be, “What are people searching for related to what we sell.”
